Timolin Cole
Timolin is a 1983 graduate of Amherst College with a B.A. in English. She went on to the University of Texas at Austin to study journalism. She completed 30 credits towards a M.A. in journalism. She then worked as a production assistant at NBC Network News in New York in 1985 for a year and a half, after which she pursued a career in public relations. She worked in entertainment p.r. at Patricia Story Public Relations in New York from 1987-1990. Clients she represented included Harry Belafonte, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, jazz singer Abbey Lincoln, the Toy Fair, and the World Music Video Awards, to name a few.
In 1990, Timolin launched Cole Public Relations and represented such clients as sister Natalie Cole, handling the launch of her "Unforgettable" album, as well as the Shark Bar, a New York soul food restaurant catering to celebs such as Robert DeNiro, Denzel Washigton, Spike Lee and Diane Sawyer.
Timolin met her husband songwriter/producer Gary Augustus in 1989. They moved to Florida and were married in 1991 where she continued her career in p.r. for three years. After having children, she became involved in local charities and served on the board of the Children's Place at Home Safe, the Haven and Center for the Arts at Mizner Park. Since 1990 she has served as Director of Operations for King Cole Productions, Inc., a family owned business which oversees proper management and usage of Nat King Cole's image and likeness. Timolin currently serves on the Arts Education Advisory Committee for the Palm Beach County Cultural Council.
In March of 2008, Timolin and her twin sister Casey launched Nat King Cole Generation Hope. Timolin serves as President of the 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization which is dedicated to keeping music alive in schools throughout South Florida as well as in major cities throughout the country. Timolin also serves on the Advisory Board for the Quincy Jones Music Symposium for Music Education.
Timolin and her husband Gary have lived in Boca Raton for 18 years with their two sons Julian, 15 and Justin, 13, and Treble, their Labrador Retriever.
